Retrofit Insulation Installation Using The Blow-In-Blanket® System

We can work with every type of wall covering: Brick, Stone, Asbestos Shingles, Insulbrick, Wood, Cedar Shake, Stucco, Aluminum and Vinyl Siding and others. There will be no evidence that you had your home insulated other that when you find your energy bill has reduced substantially – many times upwards of 60% savings! The following describes some of the processes used for installing Blow-In-Blanket® fiberglass insulation in existing homes.

EXTERIOR INSTALLTION FOR WALLS WITH SIDING (Vinyl or Aluminum):

In cases where the house is sided, there will be no evidence of the holes; it will be under the siding.

  1. Walls are first prepped for insulation by removing specific rows of siding (not all the siding is removed)
  2. Holes are drilled to provide access to the wall cavities between studs.
  3. Every cavity is then filled by pneumatically blowing the pure fiberglass into each and every wall cavity. Plum bobs and wires are used to determine where the studs and fire breaks are so that no cavity is missed.
  4. Holes are plugged and siding is reinstalled.
  5. Wood shavings and debris from the drills are swept up by brooms and/or shop vacs.

EXTERIOR INSTALLTION FOR WALLS WITH BRICK OR STONE:

  1. For brick or stone we can remove specific bricks from the exterior.
  2. Holes are drilled to provide access to the wall cavities between studs.
  3. Every cavity is then filled by pneumatically blowing the pure fiberglass into each and every wall cavity. Plum bobs and wires are used to determine where the studs and fire breaks are so that no cavity is missed.
  4. Holes are plugged.
  5. Wood shavings and debris from the drills are swept up by brooms and/or shop vacs.

INTERIOR INSTALLATION FOR WALLS:

In some cases the most cost effective way is to insulate is from the interior of the house. An Everlast Insulation representative should meet with you to review your home’s exterior to determine the best method for installation.

  1. Holes are drilled to provide access to the wall cavities between studs.
  2. While the holes are being drilled, shop vacs are continuously run to collect debris during the drilling to minimize dust.
  3. Every cavity is then filled by pneumatically blowing the pure fiberglass into each and every wall cavity. Plum bobs and wires are used to determine where the studs and fire breaks are so that no cavity is missed.
  4. Holes are plugged with foam plugs and 2-4 layers of plaster are applied and finished so that you do not see the holes.
  5. Wood shavings and debris from the drills are swept up by brooms and/or shop vacs.

Note: About 40% of the walls we insulate are from the interior because other insulation companies are not trained or skilled to finish holes. We pride ourselves in leaving a home the way we found it and can provide excellent references

ATTIC INSULATION:

  1. Attics are properly ventilated with baffles where necessary.
  2. Rulers are inserted throughout to monitor the correct level of insulation.
  3. Insulation is blown throughout the attic to the R Value specified during the consultation.
  4. Attic accesses are also insulated so that there are no voids in your ceiling.
